Asheville’s River Arts District Devastated by Hurricane Helene

Historic flooding from Hurricane Helene destroyed large portions of Asheville’s River Arts District, a hub for hundreds of artists and creative businesses.

Jeffrey Burroughs, president of the River Arts District Artists association, reported that large sections of the district had been destroyed after the storm.

“Two-thirds of the district has been destroyed,” Burroughs said while surveying damage across studios and galleries in the area.
