JEFFREY BURROUGHS FOR ASHEVILLE CITY COUNCIL

From rebuilding the River Arts District after Hurricane Helene to supporting neighborhoods across Asheville.

I’m running for City Council to make sure lived experience shapes policy and that the people who live and work here have access to opportunity.

I listen. I learn. And I work with neighbors every day to help make Asheville more affordable, resilient, and connected.

Artist. Small business owner. Community builder.

RAD Community Meeting

WHY I’M RUNNING

After Hurricane Helene, I've worked nonstop alongside artists, small businesses, and neighbors rebuilding the River Arts District. I saw firsthand how strong communities are when people work together, but I also saw how fragile our systems can be when they are not prepared.

That experience made something clear to me: Asheville needs leaders who do not just talk about resilience and recovery, but who have organized it.

I am running for City Council to help our entire city become more affordable, more resilient, and more connected so that the people who have helped shape Asheville’s culture and economy can continue to live here.

PRIORITIES FOR ASHEVILLE

Asheville is growing and facing real challenges. Our city needs thoughtful leadership that focuses on practical solutions and long-term resilience.

Housing & Affordability

Asheville must address housing challenges with thoughtful planning that supports residents while allowing the city to grow responsibly.

Economic Opportunity

Small businesses, artists, and entrepreneurs are essential to Asheville’s economy. We must make it easier for local businesses to start, grow, and succeed.

Infrastructure & City Services

City government must focus on the basics that affect daily life, from reliable infrastructure to responsive public services.

Arts & the Creative Economy

The arts are a vital part of Asheville’s culture and economy. Supporting artists and creative businesses strengthens the entire community.

From West Asheville to East End, from Southside to Montford, our neighborhoods deserve a city government that listens and delivers.

Every neighborhood in Asheville has its own history, needs, and strengths. Thoughtful leadership means working directly with communities to ensure that growth benefits the people who live here.
