JEFFREY BURROUGHS FOR ASHEVILLE CITY COUNCIL

Artist. Small business owner. Community builder.

From rebuilding the River Arts District after Hurricane Helene to supporting neighborhoods across Asheville, I’ve stayed focused on the work that lies ahead.

I’m running for City Council to make sure lived experience shapes policy. I also want the people who live and work here to have access to opportunities as we continue to recover.

I listen. I learn. And I work with neighbors every day to make Asheville more affordable, resilient, and connected.

RAD Community Meeting

WHY I’M RUNNING

After Hurricane Helene, I've worked nonstop alongside artists, small businesses, and neighbors rebuilding the River Arts District. I saw firsthand how strong communities can be when people work together, but also how fragile our systems can be when unprepared.

That experience made something clear to me: Asheville needs leaders who do not just talk about resilience and recovery, but who have organized it.

I am running for City Council to help our entire city become more affordable, more resilient, and more connected so that the people who have helped shape Asheville’s culture and economy can continue to live here.

ABOUT JEFFREY

Jeffrey Burroughs is an artist, small business owner, and community builder in Asheville’s River Arts District.

They founded the Jeffrey Burroughs brand, a design studio and boutique that supports Asheville’s creative economy.

Following Hurricane Helene, Jeffrey helped coordinate recovery efforts across the River Arts District, bringing together artists, volunteers, and businesses.

Those efforts reinforced their belief that strong communities come from collaboration, resilience, and practical leadership.

PRIORITIES FOR ASHEVILLE

Asheville is growing and facing real challenges. Our city needs thoughtful leadership focused on practical solutions and long-term resilience.

Housing & Affordability

Asheville must address housing challenges with thoughtful planning. That planning should support residents while allowing the city to grow responsibly.

Economic Opportunity

Small businesses, artists, and entrepreneurs are essential to Asheville’s economy. We must make it easier for local businesses to start, grow, and succeed.

Infrastructure & City Services

City government must focus on the basics that affect daily life. That includes reliable infrastructure and responsive public services.

Arts & the Creative Economy

The arts are a vital part of Asheville’s culture and economy. Supporting artists and creative businesses strengthens the community.

OUR NEIGHBORHOODS

From West Asheville to East End, from Southside to Montford, our neighborhoods deserve a city government that listens and delivers.

Every neighborhood in Asheville has its own history, needs, and strengths. Thoughtful leadership means working directly with communities. It also means ensuring that growth benefits the people who live here.
