Resilience in Asheville’s River Arts District After Hurricane Helene
After Hurricane Helene devastated much of Asheville’s River Arts District, community leaders began organizing emergency meetings and recovery plans for artists.
Jeffrey Burroughs, president of the River Arts District Artists, helped convene artists to assess damage and begin coordinating support efforts for displaced creatives.
“This is my home,” Burroughs said. “The RAD is a place where dreams are built and realized.”
Burroughs emphasized the importance of maintaining community connections among artists and helping them rebuild both their studios and their livelihoods.
