Asheville Journeys Toward Recovery After Historic Hurricane Helene

Jewelry designer Jeffrey Burroughs, president of the River Arts District Artists organization, described the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene and the long recovery ahead.

β€œIt was like the spirit of Asheville was just flowing away,” Burroughs said as floodwaters destroyed studios across the River Arts District.

Burroughs helped coordinate efforts to reopen studios and galleries, noting that hundreds of artists have since returned to exhibit their work and rebuild the creative community.
