Artists Rebuild After Hurricane Helene Devastates Asheville

Hurricane Helene caused catastrophic flooding across Asheville’s River Arts District, damaging studios and disrupting the livelihoods of hundreds of artists.

Jeffrey Burroughs, president of the River Arts District Artists association, noted that the district once supported more than 750 artists and generated significant economic activity for the region.

Burroughs emphasized that the arts sector is a vital economic driver for Buncombe County, contributing nearly $1 billion annually in sales and supporting thousands of jobs across the region.
